The Three Rivers Arts Festival goes DIGITAL

Hosted by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Dollar Bank, The TRAF is a mainstay in the burgh that isn’t letting the pandemic get them down. Celebrating its 61st year, the TRAF will be highlighting over 500 artists and performers the entire week of June 5th-14th. ARTIST MARKET
Explore a brand-new, virtual neighborhood filled with art! This year, 350+ artists will appear simultaneously at the Festival for the full ten days. Each artist has their own individual web page featuring several photos, a description of their work, and contact information for purchasing art.

DIGITAL STAGES
Each evening, the Festival will present live-streamed events on the Dollar Bank Digital Main Stage enabling a real-time communal experience. Additional performance videos can be enjoyed at visitors’ own pace, any time during the Festival’s ten days, spanning music, dance, and literary art.

VIRTUAL & INTERACTIVE ART
A special, interactive art experience, COMPASS ROSES: MAPS BY ARTISTS will feature a selection of maps created by 20 visual, literary, and performing artists.

TRANSVERSE: THE JURIED VISUAL ART EXHIBITION features 51 works from 40 artists selected by a panel of jurors that seek to “explore ideas about altered realities, utopias, and challenging the status quo.”

THE ANTHROPOLOGY OF MOTHERHOOD: CULTURE OF CARE highlights work by ten artists exploring the complex visual, material, emotional, corporeal, and lived experiences of motherhood, caregiving, parenting, nurturing, and maternal labor.

In line with its long history of free FILM presentation, the Festival will offer a number of films, made free for public streaming at home, only during the Festival’s ten days.

CREATIVE ACTIVITIES
A variety of creative activities will be featured in this year’s Giant Eagle Creativity Zone—a virtual gathering place to discover hands-on activities and artist demonstrations for kids and adults alike.

FESTIVAL FOOD
Festival food is a highlight for many visitors each year and, now, plans are being made to bring familiar flavors to neighborhoods with help from our region’s creative food community. Check out what’s available when the Festival opens on June 5.
